The fall season has begun here at Invisible Children (we always like to do things before everybody else), which means you can now officially request a fall tour screening of our newest film. And who better to assist you in the process than our wonderful Team Leaders.
The 20 Team Leaders (TLs) for the fall 2012 tour have arrived and are pumped (they wake up before anyone else in the Roadie-Intern house), to meet you and your communities. The importance of their early arrival is to get a head start on booking their tour routes, as well as to continue training and preparing to lead the new Roadies who will be arriving at the end of the summer. Once on tour, TLs mainly oversee the overall health of their teammates and success of their tour routes. This includes but is not limited to setting up host homes, team building exercises, and managing the logistics – accounting, van maintenance, merchandise restocks (the not-so-fun, but highly necessary stuff).
We are very excited to be in the development stages of a new tour model, that will look different than ever before but with the same characteristics of the screenings you love so much. Personal relationships with our supporters mean the world to us and we value the need for a deeper investment into the schools and communities the teams are visiting. The development of workshops are also in process which will allow teachers and students to dive deeper into Joseph Kony and the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) conflict, as well as have corresponding curriculum in the classroom. The various forms of training that these TLs will be undergoing is to really get them to a place of preparedness and confidence to be the best at leading a team and showing the world a new perspective on international social justice. The goal is to make sure that these individuals are the most well-rounded individuals they can be – not only being experts on Invisible Children, but experts on the world (I dare you to test their knowledge).
Bring Invisible Children’s newest film, Roadie team, and Ugandan speaker to your community. The best part: it’s free. This will be Invisible Children’s 15th tour, and is your chance to dig deeper, ask anything, and play an even bigger role in the KONY 2012 campaign. Joseph Kony is still out there and hundreds are still being abducted. 2012 is the year of justice. Be a part of history.
