There are very few people who don’t want clean energy. I mean, the worst that could happen is that we create a better, more sustainable world. The difficulty at this point is that it’s hard to come by and more expensive than getting power from a traditional source. Sarah Laskow, reporter for GOOD, explains what is currently going on in Washington:

A proposal in Washington could help relieve us of this particular worry. The plan would set up system—a clean energy standard—for electricity providers to gradually increase the percentage of their power that comes from clean energy sources.

This isn’t a new idea and many states already have laws requiring a similar move from companies. Electricity rates would increase on some level, but it’s a smart way to introduce more clean energy and reduce carbon emissions.
It really comes down to whether we want the choice or an affordable requirement.
